| Matt July 11, 2006 01:31 PM PDT  I disagree with your disagreement Chris. The reason people go out and kill others or destroy things, it means they don't believe in themself. That's why they have to bring others down. It's a complete lack of self-confidence. Two examples. Islamic extremists. They don't believe in themselves. They only do what they do because they believe it would be what Allah would want them to do. Let's say there is a God. There is no way a human could 100% know for sure what God would want you to do. Secondly, if someone wants to suceed in business at all costs he also would not believe in himself. Again, destruction is a sign of the weak. He doesn't believe that there is a way to meet his goals without causing harm to others. | ||

See, if people go out and realise their potential, that could mean, to them, that it's time to kill all the foreigners in their country; to do everything they can to make money or be president, even if it means polluting the environment, killing people, corruption, and so on. Yeah people should believe in their abilities but it's just as important that they believe in things like peace, freedom and understanding. It's only the combination of those beliefs that creates the kind of person that will make the world a better place. | ||

Take for example, "Be the change that you want to see in the world." If people lived by this quote, this wouldn't be the biggest problem in the world today. | ||

| Kimchi July 9, 2006 02:00 PM PDT I totally agree. Sometimes I realize that I never "really" tried to change this world and take a role that offers more responsibility but less security. But then one has to ask him/herself. What does it really mean: To change the world. I know I had an impact on people around me....but is that enough? Are the things we do ever enough? *sigh* | ||
